Two of the Innovation Center’s projects have involved helping turn ideas from our recent innovation tournament, into actions.

Engaging with those teams has been both fun and a good learning experience. Both projects have also reinforced the importance of defining a problem in a manner enabling innovation, so I wanted to share a couple lessons learned. Read more »

Meet Your Host: Your Big Idea Winner Beth Hoffman

November 19, 2012

“A single idea / the sudden flash of a thought/ may be worth a million dollars.” -Robert Collier

Beth HoffmanMy Big Idea was no better or worse than anyone else’s. As a working mom, I often turn to my smartphone to (clears throat) play Angry Birds, check email, the weather, news, and from time to time, MyPennMedicine. There’s an app for everything else, so I thought, why not this? Out of over 1700 ideas, mine was selected to move on to the second round of the Innovation Tournament. Welcome to the “Your Big Idea” Blog

November 5, 2012

More than 5000 Penn Medicine faculty and staff participated in the Innovation Tournament – either by submitting an idea, or by rating ideas. We think that’s pretty cool, don’t you?

The process of turning the two winning ideas into a reality has started – you can check out the photos of the kickoff meetings above. We will continue to use this blog as a place where you can follow the progress of the winning ideas, ask questions, and offer comments.

But we know there are exciting innovations happening all over Penn Medicine. And we want you to tell us about them so we can help share your story, and inspire others. That’s why we’ve introduced “Share Your Innovation” on this website. “Share Your Innovation” is a way for you to tell us about the special work that you’re doing in your unit or department. We’ll feature you on this blog, and do our best to connect you with people who might want to learn from you or even help out.
