    Alleviate the delay in admissions because there are no beds ready, healthy patients whose discharge is delayed are moved to an "almost home" room.

    It would be nice to have a place where families could spend time with their loved ones that have passed away instead of having to limit their time because of having to turn a patient room over.

  • Discharge Prescription Concierge Service

    Ease patient anxiety and reduce prescription medication errors by using outpatient hospital pharmacy to fill prescriptions prior to patient discharge.

  • One Week Penn Patient Guarantee

    What if every CPUP practice had several patient appointment slots per day or week that were strictly reserved for new referrals from within Penn Medicine? Penn patients appointments are then expedited.

  • MyPENN Scheduler

    An interactive website where patients can schedule appointments with various providers in the Penn Health System (doctors, nurses, psychologists, social workers, case managers, etc.) at various sites.

Tournament Overview

Round 1 Ideation

Staff submits ideas for improving the patient experience at Penn Medicine via web site, drop boxes, or email.

Round 2 Facilitated Workshops

The most promising ideas are escalated to facilitator-led workshop that results in a draft business plan.

Round 3 Business Planning

The "Round 2 workshop winners" refine business plan with proposed budget and cost/ benefit analysis. Resources provided to develop presentations.

Round 4 Final Selection

Ideas are pitched to Penn Medicine Leadership. Exceptional ideas receive funding/ resources for implementation.
